Love thyself

One of the things that’s apparent to me in my work as a psychic medium and life coach is that love makes the world go round. The downside of this is that we place so much emphasis on receiving love from others that we often forget about providing that much needed love to ourselves.

Getting more matches on tinder, our special person reaching out to us, or our ex confessing feelings of regret - they can all lead us to feeding our ego as opposed to feeding our own hearts. And putting our happiness in the hands of someone else is a dangerous place to be as happiness really is an inside job.

If you’re becoming aware of your desire for external validation and would like to start to fill your own cup, here are some great pointers to get you started!

You are enough, just as you are

I imagine most of us have been there - I know I have! Thinking that if ‘that person’ sees your perfect selfie, then they’d be interested. Or if they spot your recent instagram post showcasing your amazing social life, they’ll realise what they’re missing. The reality is that you don’t need to change at all. You’re perfect exactly as you are and the right person will want you and probably prefer you with bed hair and morning breath.

Suggestion

Repeat this affirmation several times a day ‘I am enough and I love myself just as I am’

In order to love yourself, you have to know yourself

We have so many distractions day to day - our studies, our careers, our friends, family, partners, crushes, social media… I could go on! Spending so much time focusing on things that are external to us detracts away from us really knowing who we are. And that means being able to identify our soul from our ego. It’s important to carve time out of our busy schedules to focus on getting to know who we are.

Suggestion

Start to journal regularly. A daily journal practice where you can explore your thoughts and feelings can be vital to untangling what’s going on underneath the surface.

You really are what you eat

Good nutrition is vital to us feeling positive. If we feed our bodies with processed foods, fast foods and soda pop and don’t get enough fresh fruit and vegetables, it will have a negative impact on our mind body and spirit. Everything in this world has a vibration and focusing on eating foods from the ground carries many positive benefits to how we feed inside. If you’re able to pick your fresh foods up from a farmers market or grown your own then that’s even better! Your skin, sleep and overall health and energy levels will all experience a boost.

Suggestion

Cook for a friend - cooking for someone else encourages us to prepare a fresh meal with love (and with love, comes some high vibrations!). Why not make some extra so you have a nutritious meal to eat on a day when you’re not feeling up to cooking from scratch?
